BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS INTERSERVE WATERLOO

Circular No IR/343/14

To All Branches, Regional Offices & Regional Councils

Our Ref: BR2/19/1

23rd December 2014

Dear Colleagues

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE WATERLOO

Further to my previous circular on the above matter dated 4th December 2014 (IR/319/14), I can report that despite the best efforts of the union’s negotiating team, Interserve has walked away from talks. Therefore the issues at Waterloo still remain unresolved. These include the dismissal of five RMT members on spurious charges, the disregard of basic employment rights, the underpayment of wages and the continued bullying and harassment in the workplace. Therefore, the General Grades Committee has taken the decision to call further strike action. Accordingly, all Interserve members at Waterloo are instructed to CEASE work during the following hours:-

Affected members have been given a clear instruction to stop work and “down tools” during the above hours and times and then return to work when the strike ends. Additionally, I can report that there will be demonstrations during the strike times which will be held outside of Interserve’s Waterloo Road Headquarters. I would like to encourage as many of you and your members as possible to attend this demonstration to your show support for our members at Waterloo. I would be most grateful if you could bring the content of this circular to the attention of all your members and I will, of course, keep you fully advised of any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary

Interserve members at Waterloo Strike Action....picket line and demonstration...

Members from Interserve at Waterloo on strike today, fighting against racism and bullying.

A good picket line and leaflet campaign outside of Waterloo station, with myself being spoke to by a BTP police officer who gave the usual chat,we all then headed to the Interserve HQ just outside Waterloo station via the main road, by making loads of noise and more leaflets given out...good positive feed back from the travelling public...

Thanks to all the solidarity given from Socialist Workers party along with a member of the public who joined in on the demo along with a member of the shop stewards who made loads of noise on the loud speaker....

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE WATERLOO

To All Interserve Members in London and the South East

Our Ref: BR1/14/2

28th November 2014

Dear Colleagues

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE WATERLOO

I am writing to you advise you that your colleagues at Waterloo station are currently in dispute with Interserve over a comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations. There have been several problems at Waterloo which management are refusing to address. These include the dismissal of six RMT members on spurious charges, the disregard of basic employment rights, the underpayment of wages and the continued bullying and harassment in the workplace.

To achieve workplace justice, your colleagues at Waterloo have already had two 24 hour strikes and will be taking further strike action on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December 2014. I urge you all not to undermine this industrial action. Please do not volunteer for additional duties at Waterloo station on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December 2014.

I will, of course, keep you fully advised of any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
