BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE WATERLOO

Circular No IR/04/15

To All Branches, Regional Offices & Regional Councils

Our Ref: BR1/14/1

8th January 2015

Dear Colleagues

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE WATERLOO

Further to my previous circular on the above matter dated 23rdDecember 2014 (IR/319/14), in which I advised you that our members were preparing to take further industrial action on Tuesday 6th January and Monday 12th January 2015. I can now advise you that Interserve has agreed to meet with the union’s negotiating team in an effort to resolve the dispute at Waterloo.

After careful consideration and noting this positive development, the General Grades Committee has decided to suspend the planned industrial action to allow this meeting to take place. I have therefore instructed all our Interserve members at Waterloo Station to work as normal on Tuesday 6th January and Monday 12th January 2015.

I will, of course, keep you fully advised of any further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary

Interserve Strike Action

From RMT Press Office.

Rail union RMT said today that a further phase of strike action by cleaners working for Interserve at Waterloo, due to start tomorrow at 5am, has been suspended to allow for talks with the company to take place.

General Secretary Mick Cash said.

"It is a tribute to the determination and solidarity of our Interserve members at Waterloo that their campaign of action has at last brought the company  to the negotiating table. They are a credit to the trade union movement and an inspiration to all other cleaners fighting for workplace justice. "
