TUBE STRIKE VOLUNTEERS - SOUTH WEST TRAINS

 

As you will be aware RMT members on London Underground are taking industrial action to defend Jobs and Ticket Office Closures on the following dates:-

 

• Monday 28^th April 2014
• Tuesday 29th April 2014
• Wednesday 30th April 2014
• Monday 5^th May 2014
• Tuesday 6^th May 2014
• Wednesday 7^th May 2014
• Thursday 8^th May 2014

 

It has been brought to my attention that South West Trains are seeking volunteers during this period of industrial action. I urge all RMT members to think carefully about volunteering or doing extra work during this action as it could undermine your fellow RMT colleagues taking legitimate industrial action.

Consequent upon the sad and untimely death of General Secretary, Bob Crow, it was necessary for the Council of Executives to appoint an Acting General Secretary.

 

Following a meeting of the Full Council of Executives on 27thMarch 2014, the following decision was reached:

 

​“That arising from the unfortunate death of Bro. R. Crow our General Secretary, this ​Council of Executives appoints Bro. M. Cash as Acting General Secretary until the​appointment of a new General Secretary.

 

​That this Council of Executives instructs the Acting General Secretary to put in place the ​election process for the General Secretary position.”

 

I should be grateful if you would bring this matter to the attention of your members.

RMT Mail

Dear RMT Mail user,

 

Many of you will have noticed the recent difficulties in trying to access your RMT Mail accounts.

 

The problems have been caused because accounts have been hacked and then used to launch spam email attacks which, in turn, have caused the Amazon cloud server that hosted the site to become compromised and the data upon it being lost.

 

Sadly, therefore, we have made the reluctant decision to terminate this service with immediate effect. We apologise profusely for the inconvenience that this will cause.

Zero Tolerance Campaign Fighting Homophobia

Dear Colleague,

 

ZERO TOLERANCE CAMPAIGN: FIGHTING HOMOPHOBIA

 

Please find enclosed some copies of the FightingHomophobia poster.  A wrist band has been produced to accompany the campaign and a couple are also enclosed.

 

This opportunity can be taken to remind all members that anobject of the Union is “to oppose actively all forms of harassment, prejudice and unfair discrimination”.  The poster provides a simple symbol for our zero tolerance to discrimination.

 

As part of supporting our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender members, any LGBT member who wishes to be more actively involved in the union are encouraged to attend the short course at our Doncaster Education Centre on 28-29 March 2014.

 

All members who are interested in the broad issue of equalities are welcome to attend the Equalities course on 10-14 March 2014. It would be of particular benefit to members who are considering becoming Equality Reps for their Branch or workplace.
